- Recreational Soccer Overview
The Los Gatos United Recreational Program provides players with an opportunity to develop healthy life skills, to learn the rules and strategies of play, and team participation through the game of soccer. The recreational program offers a Fall and Spring program to boys/girls ages 4-16 and is a volunteer-run program. Our recreational program paves the way for players to experience soccer with their school mates, friends, and local community. Players excelling in the recreational program may be interested in furthering their development in the Los Gatos United Competitive Program.
Fall Recreational Soccer
2017 Fall Rec teams are full and registration is closed. Please check back in 2018 to sign up for Spring Rec soccer. We are sorry if your player was waitlisted and you did not receive a team assignment. We did our best to place all applicants on a team.
Our Fall recreational program is offered for kids ages 4 to 16, with practices and games starting late-August and early September respectively. The season runs through the middle of November. We couldn’t be more excited to offer another exceptional season of soccer in our incredible community. With over 1000+ players participating last year we hope to make this year even better!
Registration is first-come, first-served with no guaranteed placement. Players will practice and play under the guidance of the Rec Coaching Director. Each team will be led by volunteer parent coaches who will receive weekly lesson plans, coaching advice and coaching education clinics. As part of the registration fee, Los Gatos United provides each player with a full uniform including jersey, shorts and socks.

Ages 2009 – 2013 practice 1 day per week on the following days:
- 2013/2012 – Friday
- 2011 – Tuesday
- 2010 – Wednesday
- 2009 – Thursday
Ages 2008+ practice 2 days per week. Coaches will be able to provide preferred practice days and times.
What to Bring/Wear to Practices & Games:
All Los Gatos United fall recreation league players are required to wear soccer cleats, soccer socks, and shin guards. Additionally, all players must wear a Los Gatos United soccer uniform to games. Each player should bring a soccer ball (sizes by age group listed below) and water to every game and practice. Firm ground cleats are ideal for recreational soccer since all games are played on natural grass.
Please note that in games with referees, Los Gatos United league players must abide by the referees’ rules, including all rules related to what players may wear. For example, all jewelry (earrings, watches, etc.) must be removed for games. Earrings cannot be taped unless the referee okays it.
Players having splints or casts will be permitted to play with the permission of the referee. It is recommended that bubble wrap is used to protect the cast or splint for safety purposes. If in the opinion of the referee, the splint or cast causes a safety hazard, the player will not be allowed to play. For players wearing glasses, safety straps are encouraged.

Our league wouldn’t exist without the hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Please consider becoming a volunteer coach/assistant coach to help us provide a wonderful soccer experience for all registered players. Information about volunteering options and fingerprinting is available in the sidebar to the right.
The decision to combine age groups is based on the number of players registered in each age group. By combining age groups we can create more teams allowing for a better more exciting experience for all of the players.
- CYSA and US Club Soccer has moved away from the school year based age groups of Aug.1 to July 31.
- All age groups are now based on the calendar year of Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
Below are the age group standards as set forth by US Soccer.
